From the Friday night lights with the Marching Patriots to our acclaimed concert and jazz ensembles, the Liberty Band program brings energy, precision, and passion to every performance.

Under the direction of Travis Hicks, the Olentangy Liberty High School band program has established itself as a premier destination for musical excellence and student development in Powell, Ohio. At the heart of the program's public presence is the acclaimed "Marching Patriots" marching band, which brings immense energy, precision, and school spirit to Friday night football games and competitive events alike. The program's stellar reputation extends far beyond the local community, earning the students prestigious invitations to perform on international stages, including multiple appearances at the London New Year’s Day Parade and Festival.

Beyond the fall marching season, the program boasts a robust concert and symphonic band curriculum that challenges students with a diverse and rigorous musical repertoire. These concert ensembles consistently earn Superior ratings at Ohio Music Education Association (OMEA) adjudicated events, reflecting the high standards, hard work, and dedication of the student musicians. The concert band’s excellence has even afforded them the opportunity to perform in world-class venues, such as London’s historic Cadogan Hall, giving students a well-rounded and global perspective on performance art.

Rounding out the department are the highly active jazz ensembles, pep bands, and indoor units, ensuring year-round opportunities for students to hone their craft in specialized musical styles.
